2 mountains climbed within 1 week
Gunung Bujang Melaka is located at Kampar, Perak. If you’re from KL(south) you can exit the highway through Tapah exit. At Tapah town, turn right to Kampar. The RV & start poin is here: http://g.co/maps/cqyvr , in front of the mosque. From there, a pickup jeep will fetch you to the trailhead.

Went there with my BERNAMA friends who loves outdoor activities. Although i’m already 5 years left BERNAMA, we’re still keep in touch.

5 hours took to reach the main camp site, Kem Lebah. The climb a bit steep, but not as steep as Gunung Nuang. But with a heavy beg at the back, it make the journey harder, challenging & of course tiring. Its a lot different from my favorite sport, running. This is more tiring for me

Gunung Bujang Melaka, done!

Climbed the highest peak in Selangor, with my Chap Ayam Runners friends. Took us near 5 hours to climb up, 4 and half hours coming down (including half an hour stop at Kem Lolo for a dip in the stream)

Gunung Nuang, done!

Feared of it’s getting worst or getting viral fever, only on the 3rd day i went to my panel clinic at Melawati. I’ve been visiting the clinic since year 2000, and the doctor knows me well enough.

During my visits, he always ask me how’s my marathon & triathlon life. He impressed with my healthy lifestyle. He even relates me to what he is currently studying, about human psychology & ability.

Today, i went there for check up on the flu that i’m having. He then told me that he always consult his patients by telling inspiring stories, and make me as his role model to inspire (but he didnt expose my name to them). Wow, i really didnt expect to be given that high praise i’m just a normal person who loves doing sports.

He just said, it’s amazing how a man, at my age(well, i maybe not too old for this) & my size, have determination to do all those long distance endurance sport, while most people always say, “Why r u keep on doing all these, tiring urself, but not winning any?”, “I’m highlighting you in my stories to them”.

Today, coincidentally, one of the patient that he tell about me, was in the same clinic, waiting his turn to see him also. So, after my session finished, he then introduced me to the man. His name is Nizam/Mizam, just coincidentally sounds like my 2nd name

He looked surprise when he look at me we didnt get to have a chit chat later.

I feel happy at least, for what i did, has inspired others. I do it for myself, i dont care what people think im crazy or whatever. I hope i can apply this to my daily life, helping me to go through hard times in life. I do it my own way, and my own pace, just like how i run a marathon. Slowly but consistent, the victory is there waiting for me. It’s just a matter of time.

It was a last minute registration run. A friend of mine invite me to run. Its free, but u have to bring along at least 10 empty plastic water bottles.

Its a fun n enjoyable run. Not so crowded as many regular runners running at the malakoff 12km on the same day.

Clocked 37mins for the 7km run, n got myself the limited finisher’s medal

Lack of LSD (long slow distance) training, plus just did Powerman 2011 last week, fear of not enuff recovery, so i planned to just run my own pace here, as the cut-off time for full marathon is 7hrs, its doable.

It started at 2am, its like running the Singapore Sundown already. At 3-4am, started to feel sleepy & dizzy. After 4am, the dizziness went away completely.

At the 3rd km, met with Jaja, she told me that she had gastric a day before. I told her to go slow, & listen to the body. Later got to know that she decided to DNF at 4th km. Good for u Jaja to take that step. THere’s always another race. Get well soon.

Met with Aini near 10th km mark. She paced with me till the finishing line. Good run girl! Thanks for pacing with me too, helping me focus more and maintain my run. Congrats to Aini for her PB, she did 5:55 along with me. Improved 37mins! Thats a huge PB for her!!!

What has been the turn down of APBIM was, the failure of the organizer to manage the water station well. There was no water left at at least 2 water stations in a row. That’s running more than 10km without water yawww!!! They repeated their 2008 mistake again where i did my 1st full marathon here.

Desperate for water, i have to search for leftover water inside water bottles thrown beside the road, hoping to collect much water to get a full bottle. Damnnnn.. its like a rubbish collector, but we have to do it or else risking my life or get dehydrated!

The last 3km was a challenging moment for me. I have to weave through thousands of fun runners walking. Feared my calf to get cramp, have to run & weave cautiously, what an experience! Love it when i did it without any single cramp

Official time was 5:55, a PB by 7 mins. Alhamdulillah!

Finished strong this time, no more being carried by medics.. LOL

Went jalan2 at Georgetown after checked out, stumbled upon this ol skool Aliph sign board!
